About us

Brighouse Child Exploitation Operating Protocol sets out the Brighouse operating protocol for safeguarding and protecting the welfare of children from exploitation.

On the Verge is a Brighouse CIC which focuses on delivering prevention and early intervention work while safeguarding children and young people from exploitation, along with providing training for parents and professionals in educational and community settings on County Lines, Knife Crime & Glamourisation of Music.

Prevention and Early Intervention: Prioritising preventive measures and early intervention strategies. This approach is crucial for addressing Safeguarding, Exploitation and challenges faced by children and young people before issues escalate. 

Training for Parents and Professionals: The importance of not only working directly with children and young people but also providing training on Safeguarding and Exploitation for parents and professionals indicates a comprehensive and holistic approach to community support. 

Use of Trained Professionals: Utilising trained professionals who have lived experience of the criminal justice system. This approach brings a unique perspective and insight, contributing to the effectiveness of the programs. 

Critical Thinking and Risk Assessment: Focusing on equipping children and young people with critical thinking skills and the ability to assess risk is valuable. These skills empower individuals to make better life choices and enhance their resilience. 

Addressing Specific Risks: By targeting risks such as involvement in gangs, exploitation, and violence, our service addresses critical issues affecting the well-being and safety of children and young people. 

Resilience Building: The overall goal of making children and young people more resilient to various risks aligns with fostering long-term well-being and positive life.

Lived Experience: Personal knowledge about the world gained through direct, first-hand involvement in everyday events.

What We Do

ASSEMBLIES 

On the Verge approach to delivering preventative sessions to children and young people in education settings is comprehensive and focused on addressing key issues related to gang involvement, county lines, and serious youth violence.

GROUP WORK SESSIONS 

On the Verge’s approach is delivering intensive weekly preventative sessions for children and young people identified as being at increased risk of exploitation, gang involvement, and serious youth violence.  
On the Verge’s extended sessions are well-designed, addressing the unique needs of at-risk individuals through a thoughtful and comprehensive curriculum.

MENTORING

On the Verge mentoring program's focus on identifying and supporting children and young people at risk of youth violence and exploitation through one-to-one mentoring. Overall, our mentoring program is well-structured, with a clear mission to provide individualised support to at-risk individuals, contributing to their personal development and resilience.

PARENTS AND CARERS SESSIONS

The parent and carer sessions offered by On the Verge to increase knowledge and understanding of gang involvement, exploitation, and violence are designed to empower parents in addressing these complex issues.  Our parent and carer sessions provide a holistic and supportive approach, recognising the role of parents in addressing the challenges of gang involvement, exploitation, and violence
